The Indian Institute of Public Health Delhi (IIPHD) is pleased to announce its call for applications, for the one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management for the academic year 2026 – 27.

The public health challenges being faced by the country calls for the development of managerial capacity among the health workforce in both public and private health sectors. A huge part of the health service delivery in the country involves the private, public and the civil society where the need for managerial efficiency is also of prime importance. Traditional Public Health education imparts technical and scientific skills but does not build managerial capacities. At the same time traditional management courses offered by business schools do not cater to the typical environment of the Public Health sector. The country needs a health workforce that is technically equipped in Public Health sciences and at the same time are trained as state of the art managers.

Objectives

The programme aims to impart state-of-the- art managerial skills to the current public health workforce and for aspirants looking to embark on a career in Public Health Management.

Intended participants

• Middle and entry level officials in the public health system
• Graduates in any discipline interested in building a career in public health

Eligibility

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline are eligible for the course. Candidates with work experience in health/development sector will be given preference.

Course Focus and Teaching Methods

This program is interdisciplinary, both in its content and teaching. It utilizes a variety of teaching/learning techniques, including seminars, journal clubs, collaborative learning, group discussions, casestudies, lecture discussions, assignments, hands-on training on computers, visits to organizations of public health interest, practical and field projects. Faculty with diverse disciplinary backgrounds, national and international experience combined with a breadth and depth of public health experience would be teaching this course.

Capstone

Each candidate under close guidance of a faculty advisor, will develop and work on a Capstone project that would employ knowledge and skills imparted during the course. Internships. Each student will undertake two mandatory internships during the first and the second terms of the course. The internship will provide hands on managerial experience to students.

Course Fee

The Fee structure for PGDPHM for the year 2026-27 is INR 2.5 lakhs per student (including an admission fee of Rs.10,000/- and examination fee of Rs. 10,000/-)
